Engine Smoke

The other day, the car got fixed. it had water pump failure, rear window regulator was busted and the fan belt needed replacement with a brake job ($1300).

While i got my car and started driving it, reached about 60MPH and the hood opened. It came with a bang and hit the windsheild, blocking my view for anything in the front. the hood cover was severely damaged. well the dealer decided to get it fixed as they "forgot" to lock it.

Anyways, now after 10 days, i got my car back (hate standing at bus shelters to go to work), after about 10 minutes i parked it and turned the engine off. as soon as i got out of the car, i saw smoke coming from the engine with a burn smell. could it be the new brake pads? or a faulty water pump the dealer did not install correct?

but then i started driving again and parked in the parking lot near work and saw no smoke. very strange, any pointers could help.

thanks
