Window Switch
Hi
Can I get some info on how to remove the centre console on a 1993 190E 2.3 Merc so that I can get to the passenger window switch to replace it? My car only has power windows for the front seats. Any idea where and how much this switch is to replace? Thanks in advance |
The plastic trim around the shift-indicator pulls straight up. Then you can grab the wood piece of the center console through the hole around the shifter. The wood piece also lifts straight up.
Here's the switch: http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/mercedesshop/sophio/wizard.jsp?partner=mercedesshop&clientid=catalog.mercedesshop&baseurl=http://catalog.peachparts.com/&cookieid=1KK0XOCBR1KK0XU0T9&year=1993&make=MB&model=190-E-004&category=O&part=Window+Switch&appChassis=F+386985- jp |
You might want to use OE switches...and I'm not sure which ones in the aforementioned list is the right one. The aftermarket ones are a smidge brighter/hotter than the OE. I saved $3 per switch but have been subsequently annoyed by the luminesence (sp?) and slightly different plastic texture. I'm living with what I have (recently changed 2 of 4) but if I had to do it again I'd go OE.

Thanks for the info. Makes complete sense and I will give it a go.
Where could I find original switch parts? |
MB dealer.
Although, first I would try contacting Phil right here at MercedesShop (the sponsor of this site). I believe he has access to dealer parts. If he can't get it, he'll tell you where you can. He is exceptionally knowledgable and easy to work with. Jeff Pierce |
