450sl fuel problem
I have purchased a 1980 450sl that was stored for over ten years. I have drained the fuel and replaced a failed fuel pump.
I now have pressure but the car does not have any accelaration. It appears that the fuel distributor valve (?) is disconnected. I cannot determine where the lines would go to connect this. Does anyone have a diagram or suggestion? Thanks |

The 1980 USA version 450's were the first Benz's with Lamda controls. O2 sensor & frequency valve to control mixture. The injector that is on the drivers side of the air flow housing should be "buzzing" any time that the engine is running. IF not then check the overvoltage protection relay! ON that car the relay is a 1 time event(no replaceable fuse).

your injectors or other places in the fuel system could still have bits of gunk in them.
my 76 450sl had been sitting around for a few years when I bought it, and a couple of bottles of Chevron Techron in the tank did wonders. there's the fuel accumulator, too... |
