Since the arrival of the cold weather (I am in the frozen north, boy is it cold this morning -18 Celsius or 0 Fahrenheit), the passanger side windows operate very sloooooooowly when I roll them down (upwards they work a bit faster). The colder the ambiant temperature the slower they work. Did anyone have come across the same problem? I am assuming so because my friend has the same problem with her '87 300E. Should I lubricate the railing or is there another sollution to this?

It is very normal for this to happen until the inside of the car reaches normal comfortable temperature. The window lifters are put under severe strain when opening in cold weather due to many factors.

Thanks Benzmac for the speedy reply. However the problem does not go away even after a whole day of driving with the heater at maximum. Also the driver side window works just fine regardless of the ambiant temperature. On my girlfrien's 300E the problem is with the driverside window. So go figure. I can live with it (it is darn cold after all why would I keep opening that window anyway :-) )but if it is something that I could fix just by removing the doorpanel and lubricate the parts I would do it. It could be the window switch going bad. My switch on my 190E started to "stuggle" going up before the switch refused to work at all. After the switch was replaced it was fine. If you are ambitious you may want to try it. Removing the door panels aint a lot of fun. If you got the time lubing the regulator might work, be extremely carefulin removing the door panels. If you break one they are expensive.
