I am planning to transplant the engine (+gearbox + differential?) from a 300SL into my 1988TE. Does anyone have any advice?

Any info on diff ratios? Is it worth trying to transplant the aircon?

If you have the complete donor car at your service for the necessary cable harness, relays and compu's, it might be a transplantation worth trying.
If not...the only advice I can give you is to buy a second car to drive in during the months it will take you getting your car to function again.

I have seen it happen with someone who tried to transplant a 1996 C250 Turbo Diesel into his C250 Diesel (which looked very easy and simple), but his car was out of use for several months!
I have considered changing my 1993 C250 Diesel's engine for a 1999 C220 CDI (with a complete donor car at my service) but figured it would not be worth the trouble and STRESS...
