'97 E420 IC Replacement
 

Need to replace the instrument cluster on this vehicle due to gauge failure. M-B USA will version code and set the mileage on the replacement cluster. Will the cluster need to be "mated" to the vehicle with SDS at the time of installation or is this just a simple R&R?

it will need to be version coded using the SDS, mostly what happens is you connect the SDS to the car with the original cluster in the car, pull the coding and install the coding in the new cluster, if you cannot communicate with the old unit the version coding will have to be done manually.
