car acceleration responding poorly

93 500sel/s500
im having a problem with my car

my mechanic doesnt have anytime to check it out untill tuesday. but i would like to know what the cause of this might be.

heres a description

when i step on the gas the car does not respond it takes off really slow. After a second of the acceleration i feel a kick or two. I just bought this car and i know this is not how its suppose to run.

the only thing i can think of is the TPI sensor. my last car had a similar problem only it would not respond at some speed or rpm levels and at certain speeds it would work well and that was due to my TPI sensor. but this car responds poorly at all speeds.

please any help or leads will be great

Thanks

Sounds like a plugged cat or bad throttle actuator. Is the car throwing any codes?

Read the codes under the hood, if your car allows for this (not sure if your model does). You can find directions on the website by seraching. The codes will tell you what part of the engine isn't working correctly.

what filters needed to be changed out in your car? and were the fuel lines also changed out ?

thanks

on my car i changed the 2 fuel filters (secondary and primary). it ran fine, a week later i ran diesel purge through it and it got better. the second one doesn't apply to your gas car tho.

i also changed the oil, air filter, and also the air pump thingy (when you have air the the fuel system on diesels u use this to pump it out).

maybe you can run it on starter fluid and see if it runs better then its a fuel problem?

well when i diagnose why a car doesn't start. the first thing i would do is start it on starting fluid. if it starts then i know it probably is the fuel system. if it doesn't then i can go on trying the spark and etc...

how would i try to start it on starting fluid ?

i did not mean to start it on starting fluid. i meant if the car is idling poorly you might spray some starting fluid and if the idle smoothens out while it is on starting fluid then it might be your fuel system clogged up or something.

good luck,
