Year 2000 W202 Transmissions
Upon looking a nice used 2000 W202 C230K, I have just learned that in 2000 they came with a new 5 speed transmission. Is this something I should really opt getting over a 1999? Which would be better/reliable?

The trans change came in 1997 on C-class cars! From there only slight changes have been made.

doesnt the 2000 only have 5 speed with tip tronic??

The 2000 does have a different shifter! Not really tip-tronic. Just a different designed shifter! & those shifters have a HIGH failure rate due to spilled liquids!

So any advice on how to avoid failure?
I have a 2000 c230K with about 60k - what should I be looking for in terms of syptoms of failure? |
