Working on '86 300E, Best beer to drink??
whats the choice beer for a saturday afternoon spent working on on water pump. its gonna be another hot one too. :sun_smile
|
Newcastle, the one and only.
|
Pilsner Urquell, not german but close.
|
Beck's dark beer
|
Here in Oregon we have a wide range of very good local microbrews. I'd pick something like a pale ale or a hefeveisen (sp?) with a little lemon wedge. :bulb: I would expect you'd have something similar in the midwest. I grew up there and remember how much folks like their beer. :beerchug:
|
I'll second Beck's Dark
Any Mercedes work outside requires something true and robust, so Beck's Dark, or I suppose if you want a domestic, Sam Adams' Summer Brew, which is not dark, but is robust yet crisp.
|
Rogue Deadguy Ale, anything Sammy Smith. Porter maybe? Great Lakes Edmund Fitz. Deffinately Deadguy if you can get it.
|
Stella Artois or Murphy's Red. Or maybe UFO from Harpoon or maybe Whitbread Ale...the list goes on...Things to stay away from are the stronger one's like Hard Lemonade and Ummegong (sp?) belgian style ales (~8% alcohol) it'll wipe you out before you done with the car!
|
Dead guy! Yes! great choice. Stella I think is a matter of preference. Always gives me a headache.

You need to be a Chapelle fan to get that one. |
Stella, Warsteiner, Chimay Grand Reserve (heavy) - take your pick!
|
Yes. The mid-west, especially Michigan has many great micro brews. If you ever find yourself in the area, order an Oberon. Beer of choice for the summer MSU student. Though I cant stand it in a bottle. Maybe I'll be with Sam's Summer Bew or a Wicked Pete's.
Ive always been a huge fan of Pale Ales though, I love those IPAs, though being English in origin, possibly a good beer to drink while working a a Mini or whatever they make these days. |
What size are your rims? If they are bigger than factory, a 40oz. of Miller High Life may be in order.
|
Guinness or nothing for me.
|
Guiness = Flavorless Stout (except the Extra Stouts)
|
For everyday drinking beer NOTHING beats the oldest brew in America!!!
http://www.yuengling.com/ For the special occasion, Stella Artois, Negra Modello or Dos Equis, among others. |
Yuengling is great!
|
Here's a thought.
Fix the car, then drink. Doing a 103 water pump buzzed ain't the way to go. |
Heineken, what else?
hehehehehehehe |
Two words: Steel Reserve.
|
Steel reserve, hell yeah.
Either that or PBR, put a Stooges record on, and I'm all set. |
for myself
st pauli girl. best taste, best label. it is expensive but no more than i drink any more what does it matter?
tom w |
So what beer is best for the test drive after the fixin'? :P
|
seeing as though my alternator is now on my list to replace for the weekend project now, i dont care what i drink as long as its a lot afterwards. hope it all works out.
|
No no no...
There's only one beer to drink while working on, dreaming about or, hey, let's not be coy, driving around with one stuck between your thighs, in a Mercedes - an ice cold Bintang from Indonesia. Bintang means "star" in Indonesian and Malay, so no clearer recommendation than that. Tastes pretty good too. |
Many years ago, I was stuck in heavy stop & go traffic out near the airport on the good 'ol 401 in my Alfa Spider with the top down. It was cooking out, and I reached in the back for a frosty can of Labatt's Blue that I had just bought. I kept it low and ducked my head for a sip. I heard the blast of an air horn and looked up into the smiling face of the trucker beside me, who hoisted his bottle of Blue in salute.

How a bout a Presidente.
(Easy to get in NY, Boston and Miami. I do not know about the rest of the country) |
Presidente was the house beer at the resort I stayed at in Punta Cana a couple years back. Not great, but it goes down like water. Kinda reminds me of a Dominican High Life.
