Activator Problem (RPM problem for E 200)

Hi Mercedes Gurus
I have a problem with my car.
I have mercedes E 200 1993 model Petrol Car . Engine 124 model

I am having problems when i start the car the RPM fluctuvates specially when i am taking reverce or when i switch on AC.(This part of world AC is a must)..
but once running started no problem. Couple of times engine stopped while taking out from Parking..

When i show this to mechanic he is saying there problem with ACTIVATOR which controls all the RPM and sits next to the Engine..
HE is advising me to go for Used one as new is quite expencive here,,

I welcome your suggentions and advice..

Anticipating quick reply. Thanks in Advance

Is that still the M102 motor or the m111 motor?

The M102 motor has an idle control valve located down underneath the air filter. Most likely culprit. Always go new - second hand ones normally give trouble. Im assuming this is the motor you have?

Don't understand 'activator'. Maybe you could post a pic with arrow pointing it out?

I believe a '93 E200 would have the M111. Whilst we did not get the E200 in Australia, by 1993 the 4-cylinder W124 models (E220) sold here were using the M111. I think all M102 W124 models were badged as 200E and 230E and even early M111 were badged as 200E and 220E.

Whilst I have not heard of it being a problem on the 4 cylinder models, I wonder if this could be a wiring harness issue? A '93 falls in the period where other models were affected with bad engine harnesses.

Thank you verymuch for your replies.

Chasis model is 111. Engine model is 124..electric model..

Ya the part (activator) which i am talking lies next to Engine. And big airfilter pipe is going to it. it contains the springs which controls the accelarator . I mean if i pull the spring little bit the accelator of engine goes up etc..there is number return on it 72467912 11..the mechanic told me that it controls the rpm. He tried to change the relay switch but he said its okk..what the part called?..as i searched whole internet but no part called activator..

Sorry i am newbie in sparepart.

thanks & regards

Musta spelt wrong. If its the M111 model, then Yes I would agree it could be the wiring loom as I had a simular issue with my c200. The whole loom had to be replaced.

Other culprits may include the throttle ACTUATOR

The throttle actuator is bassically the black unit on the back of the throttle body. Black plastic, rectangle. The whole body has to be brought. Ive heard of this being faulty, testing fine, and not throwing any faults out. Be aware that the lead comeing from this unit is prone to faliure just like the wiring loom. If you can verify that the donor car was working fine with the used part in it, then by all means go second hand, but if theres no way of verifying its in working order dont touch it! Symtoms Ive heard of include surging RPM, Hesitation, incorrect idle.

I recall the Over voltage relay had issues on these models but i cant recall the symtoms - I think this is rulled out because the m111 models were full electronic injection, IE if this failed the car wont run - any one verify this?

Thanks Kiwi.
Sorry for delay in replying.

Ya its Throttle Actuator.

The new one is osting me around - USD 650 + USD 75 labour Charge

The old(used one) is about - USD 200 + USD 75.

I am trying to get it from local used market. The mechanic is giving me few months warantty kind of one.

What exactly the prime job of "Throttle Actuator".. if anyone can shed some light on it please.

the part number of the Throttle Actuator is A0001419125

If its very crusial then i will go for new one. If its not very then i will stick with used one.

Thanks in Advance .
