1982 500sl gray market car windows quit
 

I have a 1982 500sl conv (gray market) car. All of a sudden, both the power windows quit working at the same time, went out one day and they would not work, i think the battery was low and i had to charge it to get running, would this have anything to do with it?

I tested the fuses, they are good, called MB they said check the relays above the fuse box(passenger side foot well), i switched the three relays around in each plug, but the windows still won't work.

Is there any other place i can find fuses or relays, like under the hood?

any help will be appreciated, all other electrical parts work.

Well, this probably won't be any help at all, but the 1982 380SL (USA) electrical manual says the window relay is on the left hand side of the passenger footwell. You might search there to see whether the relay on your euro-SL is located there rather than in the fusebox area on the right side of the footwell.

my battery went dead sitting in the garage, when i charged it up and went for a drive, i noticed the the windows would not go down, worked perfectly before battery went dead, it has been 6 months and windows will still not work, any thoughts would be appreceiated, i alternated the fuses in the passenger side foot well, but no windows, but everything else contiues to work.

change the fuses for good measure and clean the sockets they fit into.

couldnt hurt. seems too simple but might work.

I just aquired a 1985 500SL. I to have the power window problem. Did you reolve your issue?

I posted the same problem - little use of car, battery got run down,

Went out Friday night, everything fine, at night, but noticed windows went up and down SLOOOOWLY, parked car next day would not start, but a little light still from headlights.

Fuses all replaced and cleaned 3 yrs ago

Advice so far - going to go to shop tommorow

1 vote check charging system, load test on battery (after battery charged)
