Hey guys,
I'am stuck on a Mercedes Benz 190E, 1985, Gasoline-Engine, 4 Clinder 2300 ccm, VIN:#-No>: WDBDA24D1FF112270 who can help give me information on the above mentioned car to replace the timing chain guide, or can you just replace the brownish/black "fiber-slider" on the guide. Do you usally have to replace the chain, or the tentioner when fiber-slider falls off the guide? The car was still running, a bit rattely and the chain looks in my opinion good, and the gears as well/ My main-question is, if I just have to replace the slider, or the whole timing-chain, and tentioner? Who can give Informations, and detailed Informations, how I can get that Job done. Also, How can I get the fan and waterpump off, if needed, and can I reseal the power-steering-pump. ON that & any 1984-86 190E 2.3 you should remove the ENTIRE front cover to replace all of the worn parts for the timing chain. THOSE engines have a single row chain, & only the 1987 & later have an oil spray nozzle to lubricate the chain & gears!
Requires the removal of oil pan & everything on the front of the engine! Takes me about 10 hrs on that job & I've done lots of them!
