'82 123 monovalve problems
When I am decelerating or at a red light, my semi-cool a/c suddenly goes to the HOT mode. I don't know if it is the monovalve or something else. No fuses blown. The a/c compressor is old and weak (bad electric clutch) :) but is still working when the air goes from cool to HOT (the clutch is engaged, not stopped). If any of you folks think this is a monovalve problem, do the rebuild kits work? Could it be something else wrong I should look at? Thanks for any help!

If tou are getting actual heat as opposed to just air at ambient temp, it could very likely be a monovalve problem. I find that I have to install a repair kit about every 2 or 3 years. Usually the kit fixes it, although I did encounter one kit which was NG. Note hat if the monovalve connector does not make good contact it will go to full heat, so try cleaning the connector first.

Hello Palangi,
Thanks for your good information. I will check the connection on the monovalve. I haven't checked recently, but I think the connector has a weak and bent male end on side. I will check it tomorrow. Also, I think I may go ahead and buy a repair kit. Thanks! -Curt |
