synthetic oil question
 

Do any of you guys run synthetic for 6k miles or so and switch filters at the half way point... or do you trust the filters. Or do you not trust the synthetic and switch out oil at 3k.

I am thinking about trying synthetic in the 300e as we go into fall and winter. I don't think my son will put on more than 8k miles in a year since he can't afford the gas.

I use it on my diesel and my harley and now that I am doing the valves( was using a quart every 500 miles) I am going to go to it in my 300e my truck I go 7500 miles my bike calls for 2500 I go 3500

Don't waste your money the oil filter will last 6k miles without any problems. Provided you are using a good oil filter that is.(OE or high quality German filter) My friends E300D has had oil changes in that mileage range for all 155k miles of its life and not once was the filter changed in between.

With maybe one or two oil change exceptions, my '87 has been run on synthetic at 7500-10,000 miles change intervals since new. 272,000 miles so far on the original engine..
