124 CrankShaft Position Sensor
Is there anything special regarding the installation of this sensor. Front of engine, set to ride the front crank pulley. Part of the EZL Ignition system.
Thanks - Bluzygent |
I guess you are talking about a M103? The crankshaft position sensor comes from the rear of the engine (engine bellhouse, above starter) and goes to the ignition modul. It is necessary for the engine to run. The camshaft position sensor comes from the front of the engine. It is not necessary for the engine to run but serves diagnostic purposes only (measuring ignition retard?).

Front crankshaft sensor
Bruno,
124/M103 86-92 300E used EZL Basic ignition system and CIS-E Injection System. 86/89 - EZL system - used Control Module, Ingnition Coil, Crankshaft Position Sensor, Engine Coolant Temp Sensor, THrotle Position Sensor and Ingnition Distributor. 90/92 - EZL added the intake temp and pressure to the system data. Later version added the camshaft position and knock sensors. 1989 300E has a sensor attached to the front of the engine mounted on the cranckshaft pulley. I need to know if there is a special way it has to be installed to work properly. Thanks for your reply. Bluzygent |
