how to replace guide rod mount on 240d

The passenger guide rod mount for the front suspension needs replaced on my 82 240d. What precautions do I need to take as far as safety goes?

Use the proper internal spring compressor to remove the spring.

You probably should inspect the other side...

Look at lower control arm bushing condition, lower ball joints while you are there. There are 2 rubber disks on the other side of the guide rod.
