1986 300e Intermittent Failing Front Windows
 

Hi,

I recently bought this 86 300e.
Some background info regarding the electrics.
The seats and telescopic steering were not functional when I got it.
All windows did not work(fortunately they were all closed)
Shortly after I got it and played with the fuses a little, voila the two front windows were working. Great
So then I decided to open the rear relay box behind the main fuse box, and play with them to see if I could get the seats to work.
I took them out shook them a little and put them back.
Got in the car and bingo the seats and steering adjustment work.
I rolled down the window, got out of the car for a min, got back in to close the window and go back inside, and wouldnt you know it the windows do not work now, neither of them driver or passesger(Just an FYI the rears have not worked in a long time according to the owner, so they appear to be a separate issue)
I do not think the switches are bad because this behavior is directly influenced by me playing with the relays.

So my questions are as follows:
1. There are a total of 5 square silver relays, there socket locations have some marking A B C etc. I took them all out and they appeared the same so I interchanged them to see if that would help(this is the second time around after the window stopped working) So then, are they actually the same? Or have I done a no no and they need to be there original locations?
2. Which of these five relays controls the windows? That is key so I can keep trying different relays in that one socket.
3. If anyone has a pic or diagram of those relays and what they are and where each one sits etc it would be extremely helpful?

Any help ASAP would be really appreciated, as I live in Seattle WA and my window is currently all the way down :)

Also the aluminum fuses often corrode. Many people look for copper ones and replace them all. Also, try gently rotating all the fuses in the fuse holders. Sometimes, this alone can solve some mysterious electrical problems.
