98 S420 burnt rubber/plastic smell

Hi,
I get a burning rubber/plastic smell from the engine bay. It comes from behind the engine not from the front pulley area. Don't see any smoke or anything. I don't smell anything inside the car. I noticed this today after I had driven the car for about 2 minutes. Any thoughts or ideas ??? Thanks

Check and see if anything is stuck to the exhaust system. You may have run over a plastic bag. I see this all the time.

Hi,
As suggested by ILUVMILS I checked the exhaust area and sure enough there were several small pieces of some black colored residue/cloth type material lying on the exhaust & transmission. Looks like they fell off the small rectangular pad on the wirewall behind the engine. I used my leaf blower and blew the debris off. I don't get that smell anymore. Thanks very much ILUVMILS.
