722.6 transmission homemade dipstick

Someone in the distant past posted information about making your own dipstick tool. I tried to search for it, but came up empty. Does someone still have that information?

I think it was Jim Grillot over on the MBCA site. He uses an piece of cable housing from a lawnmower it I am not mistaken.
