500E Door wind sound

I have wind sound coming from the rear right door ON MY 500E.
this happens at +160 km/h . the upper front corner of the door seal has some repair (tapped by cloth tape, its a bit squeezed ).

any thoughs on how to fix this, am i looking at the right cause for this ?

Thanks in advance

yeah

you are on the right track. check for broken places in the rubber seal. if that is fine, look at the latch. adjust to pull the door in more if need be. beyond that i am not sure if you can move the hinges or not. i think you can.

checked the seal today. turns out a whole chunk is biten off. the area was patched up using a strong cloth tap.

now. could anybody tell me how to remove the seal to put a new one in ??
its the rubber seal that runs around the edges of the rear right door (visible from the out side).
any idea on the pricing?

thanks

the seal

is prob 30 or 40. to take it off will prob take some scraping and such. reinstall with the appropriate glue.

I believe all the door surround rubber is held in by friction, that is, no gluing.

Whatever you do, get genuine MB parts for these. Aftermarket "rubber" has too much "carbon black" and not enough rubber, so they deteriorate faster.

Here's a tip if you have access to a smoke-machine:

1) close all doors and windows; start the car, and turn-on the fan to HIGH to pressurize the cabin;

2) using the smoke-machine, preferably inside a shop with no breezes, pass the smoke around the suspected seals (or all seals) and see where the smoke is PUSHED away by the pressurized cabin.

:-) neil

PS: get the factory manual and/or CD-ROM and it will show you how to replace the door rubber seals.
