Engine/Tranny is dying, who will win the race?

Hi guys im new on the board as well as to Mercedes. So i took my car to a well known shop "Euro Star Motors"in Spring, and was told the compression on the motor was 185.185.150.185.175,also my fuel plate is leaking at the intake. Transmission takes about 7 seconds and the it jumps into reverse also the fluid is as black as the guys heart that sold me the car and told me nothing was wrong with it. So the question is were do i find a decent used Motor/Transmission.I dont mind paying as long as i get quality.thank-you for the Help

I'd suggest changing the tranny fluid filter and pouring some Trans-x in there along with the fill before I condemned it to death.

I've had better results flushing the transmissions , sometimes called a fluid exchange, instead of just changing the filter and topping of the fluid. The problem with just changing a filter is while you clean debre from the pan and install a new filter, you still have the majority of the old, contaminated fluid in the system. The flush/exchange process involves a cleaner and a conditioner plus all new fluid in the transmission is replaced. I have had good results with BG products.
Good luck

Salvation for dying engine &tranny

A fluid exchange for the tranny + a pan drop and filter replacement FAST with a bottle of LUBEGUARD RED may extend the life many many thousands of miles.

The leaking fuel distributor is a 'must fix. The low compression on one cylinder is maningless without a leakdown test--goin gpast rings, intake or exhaust valve?

I have seen lots of 'leaking' valves reseat if you run a high does of TECHRON through the engine--often the cause seems to be clear varnish build up on the valve seat that starts spalling off when a new owner starts buying good fuel instead of cheapo stuff. Gentle driving with heavy 'clean-up' dosage of deposit may salvage the valve--if that's the problem. A single slightly low compression test is not conclusive. Fear-not.

I may have missed it, but what model/year is your Benz? Also- I would not fret about the tranny either. I have heard that this hesitation/jerk in reverse does not necessarily mean the tranny is bad. I have heard several mention that there is some sort of an adjustment that can be out of place that causes this. Mine has a slight hesitation - about 2-3 seconds, but I never thought much of it.
