occasional High idle on starting

My 560SEC has recently started idling high (around 1500 RPM) about half the time I start it. After about 15 mintures, it starts idling normal. I searched the threads, but it seems that other people have the problem of idle surging or idle staying high. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Thanks,
Hemant

Idle

I wonder if your model has one of those micro switches on the throttle body
that tells the computer the throttle is released. If it has one, could it be faulty or mis-adjusted ?

hmmm. maybe. Where would I look for it?

You are looking for something like this (from a 190e) under the airbox

The micro-switch sensor needs to be resting against the metal at idle.

Once or twice I've had a "sticking" idle at rest, a blast of WD40 around the mechanism works a treat.
