Mouse-like squeaking coming from C43 dash that goes away when wet...
I've had a few problems with my 1999 C43 but this one is the worst: something in or around the dashboard area has developed a pretty persistent squeaking that sounds like a mouse. It's pretty much squeaking all the time because of the stiff suspension that causes the car to move around a lot.
The only way I have found to silence it (and only sometimes) is to run my windshield wipers with wiper fluid. I assume that something with the fluid flowing down there somewhere quiets it. Anyway, it's really annoying and it needs to be fixed. It's embarrasing. Anyone have any experience with something like this? Thanks! Alex |
hmm...thats interesting. It sounds almost like your describing a whistling noise if its silenced by windshield washer fluid. Does the noise change with speed??

and your sure it's not the windshield wiper blade rubbing against the window?

Hmmm..... that's for the ideas. I have this spray on lubricant that I use with my boat called Sail-Kote. They don't say what it's made from (or if it does, I don't remember and I don't have the can with me) but they pitch it as a dry lubricant without silicon or oil based products. Do you think I could spray that behind my dash and I guess along the outside of the lower windshield?
It's definitely not a whistling noise, it only appears and changes with undulations in the road. It's the most horrible sound ever. |
Try it. What have you got to loose?
I would do one first ( inside or outside ), to see where it has the most effect. ;) |
