in-line tank heater question for MB pros

OK, so I'm cheap. I don't wanna break my wallet by getting someone else to install a freeze plug block heater and I don't wanna break my back by trying to do it myself. So I'm going with the zerostart in-line tank style.

Question#1 for those of you who may have done this on a 300D (W123?):

Where exactly on the car did you attach the intake line that goes to the heater, and where exactly did you attach the outflow line from the heater?

After 3 different tries, none of which worked, I give up and defer to any expertise out there.

Question #2: Is there a reason no one selss these things with a small pump attached? Does it not make logical sense that everything will heat up faster if you don't have to rely on convection to move the coolant through the system?

Thanks for any suggestions,
Randy

I had a 85 300 TD and it was installed, did you look to see if it is there sometimes you only need the cord.

"It" in your case meaning a freeze plug block heater, right?

Yes, the cord was in the grille.
