s500 electric problem

My 95 s500 blew a fuse when i tried to charge a cell phone, replace the fuse but the car didn't start. I got the car started after checking the fuse again, but now the windows don't open. Does anyone have a clue what could be wrong.

You may have blown also the windows' fuse(s). Check them, and even if they look OK, change them for new ones.

Then, if the windows operate, open each window down and hold the switch in the down position without releasing it for 2-3 seconds. Then raise the window up and hold the switch on the up position for 2-3 seconds. This process should reprogram your comfort express up and down feature.

Hmmm... I would hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems you have a major electrical problem.

Now I remember that when I acquired my S 500 L the shop manager at the dealership strongly advise me against connecting any cellular chargers on the cigarrette lighter sockets. It seems W140s are very sensitive to these devices and can cause big trouble, which it seems it did on your case.

The problem really is that the electrical system on the W140 is so overly complicated and overly designed that minor disrruptions can a fatal problem.

I would consult a good indie about your trouble. Let us know what you find, it would be interesting to find out what really happended...

Try resetting the computers. Take all power off the car via the battery for 15 minutes, then reapply and I'll bet you will see things have reset. Just make sure you know the radio code!! Works wonders for my W140 when things seem wierd!
