2002 slk320 Lateral Acelleration Sensor

I have a 2002 slk320 with a traction control problem. The on board computer says I have a bad lateral acelleration sensor. Tried to reset the computer and it came back within 1 mile. Chilton says the sensor is in the trunk but I have had no luck tearing the trunk apart to find the sensor. Does anyone know where in the trunk the sensor is? Is there any way to test the sensor to see if the sensor is realy bad? Just because the computer says a part is bad does not mean the part is bad. Has anyone fixed a similar problem? Thanks John
