Wiper motor acting funny
Hello all,
The wipers in my 1990 300SL started doing something wierd: -Works fine on HIGH speed setting -Doesn't work at all on LOW or INTermittent setting This happened all at once and acts this way all the time now (it is not an intermittent problem). I read somewhere that the wiper motor had two "windings" inside it: one used for low/intermittent and one for high. Sounds to me like my motor is 1/2 baked. Is this true? I'm guessing it's not the following by process of elimination: -Combination switch - since two positions wouldn't go bad on it at once -Relay - that only affects the INT position and not the LOW setting. Are my assumptions correct? I still plan to test out the wiper motor if I possibly can (see if I can run 12V to the right wires to run it on LOW/INT/HIGH to see if all positions work or not). Any reason I should suspect anything OTHER than the wiper motor itself?? Thanks! Neal |
