W124 1995 Indicator Problem-Please Help

Hi , i have a W124 1995
When I go to indicate left or right the indicators don't work. I hear a very quick clicking noise that comes from near the fuse box. Anyone have any ideas to what the problem could be?
Thanks
Hughie

have you checked the bulbs to make sure they are ok?

What about fuses?

Would be a good idea to check those first since they are easy to do.

Bulbs seem ok and so do fuses.I had a play around and the indicators work if i put lots of pressure on the indicator lever (up or down). I also took apart the fuse box covers etc to try and find where exactly the noise comes from and it seems to come from under the bigger fuses under the main fuse box. That make sense?

You need a new multipurpose relay that controls the flasher. It's located in area behind the fuse box. Should cost about $50 to $60 - very easy to put in.

On the same car, I had some luck fixing the problem by doing the following: If you look closely on the steering column where the turn signal stalk comes out you will see a small rectangular plastic cover. Gently pry it open, and lift it out about 1" or so. Than spray contact cleaner, or WD40 inside the opening. This should help clean any corrosion on the turn signal

Do this a few times, than try the turn signal again. Hopefully this fixes your problem. Otherwise, as a previous responder noted, it really does sound like you have either bad, or not the proper turn signal light bulbs. (Front, and/or back)
