what about the 97 e420?
i drove one from the local dealer yesterday. it was a little rough condition. it had a miss occasionally at idle after startup and occasionally when i pulled up to a stop sign.
the performance was pretty impressive. relaxed head spinning acceleration on demand at all speeds (that i tried). what is the experience with these? are they reliable? what kind of fuel economy would i expect to get? is it safe to run them on rug? it turned 1900 rpm at 60 mph. tom w |
Had one for a couple of years then traded it for the SL. Great running car with no problems that I remember. Only thing to watch out for in the winter areas is rust. We fixed a lot of rust on a 98 last week, and I was really dissapointed in all the rust we found. Don't think your 97 or 98 E is rust free untill you pull the bumpers off and take a good look.

so pj
what kind of mileage did you get with it?
Tom w |
That car was a 5 speed and 25 on the highway is no problem. Around town will be 15 to 17 depending how you run it. My wifes 400E gets much better mileage than my TE.

The 400 will get 25 to 27 easily,,,, great car,,, have owned it since 96 and have gotten to know the innards pretty well. This car has a lot of history, and is still a magnificent automobile.:D
