Hood latch W126

My hood does not close on both sides,87 w126,one side latch(pass side) will not lock,I tried to lock it with a screwdriver to see if the mechanism is working, and is not...only the driver side, any way to fix this?,or I need a new latch on that side.

Sorry u are kinda not making sense.FFirst you sayed the hood does not close on both sides. And than you say it is one side.If both of the latches dont lock what is happening the lever on the inside is pulled to open,It hapens when the cable get ols and start to seize on the inside or the springs in hood latch are worn or brocken.to fix that push the hood leaver to the unopened possition forward and the hood shook lock..So now if what you are trying to say that the passenger side hood lock does not lock then it is probally the lock itself. If is rusty inside or worn out and is stuck in the open position.Either spray some anti seize spray likw wd 40,but wb is not very good stuff.Go to a parts store and buy some better stuff and spray on the lock and let it soak for a while .Or it might be possible that the cable from the drivers side is stuck somewhere and is stuck in open position. Good luck Harald

If the problem is only that one side does not latch correctly then you can use the small shims on the latch mechanism to lower/raise it.

Matt.
