I believe I need to replace the contact brush set in the steering wheel.

I am getting a grinding / squeaking sound coming from the steering wheel when turning in both directions.

Is this a job I can do myself or should I have the shop do it?

I looked on the W124 CD and did not find any procedure to remove the steering wheel, is this because of the air bag requirements?

Has anyone done this?

Anyone,.... anyone?

I have done this many times. The secret is getting the bolt out of the steering wheel without damaging the lock after you remove the airbag without it blowing. You will need some specail tools...

You need to be really carefull when working on a system that could hurt you. If the airbag blows while you are near, it will break fingers, nose, or anything else.

I think I get the message, SHOP ONLY fix!

Thanks Benzmac.
