"Rattle" in cold weather
I have a 1997 S320. In cool / cold weather, the engine rattles or chatters when idling. My mechanic speculated that the timing chain needs adjustment.
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? |

I think I'd get a better diagnosis of what's making the noise. If its a timing chain--it may fail at any moment.

How many miles?
Could be a failed chain tensioner, esp. if you have < 150k miles on it. As above, don't wait -- have it attended to ASAP before a very expensive and preventable problem happens! |
