Unhappy 190E fuel-pump relay power-source?

Ok, got the headgasket replaced that was fried due to stuck thermostat. Car was running fine at that time. Now that it's back together, I have spark but no fuel...

Tried pulling the fuel-pump relay and jumping pins 87 to 30 and still no fuel. Measured pin-87 and it SHOULD have +12v power right? The wiring diagrams in my Chilton manual sucks, but I could at least make out that pin-87 should go to the alternator then to the +positive on the battery. There's no power on this pin with the key OFF or ON.

Any suggestions?

TIA -danno
