Angry Engine Oil Leak [M119]

The strangest thing happened the other day.... I changed my oil and filter (using the oil extraction method). Now I have a rather aggressive oil leak. I have rechecked that filter housing and it's dry. Upon crawling under the car, The front half of the engine is dry. The oil ends up on the transmission oil pan and drips from the tranny oil pan bolts. No it's not tranny oil. When you wipe it up off the floor, it's the typical yellowish-brown new oil color and feel. No Red color. I MIGHT have over filled the engine by a quarter quart at most. As a precaution I sucked about a half a quart out so the dipstick reads half way up the normal range. It has always been my technique to fill the engine up to about a quart low, run the motor for about a minute, shut it off, wait about 5 minutes and top the oil off. I can't believe I blew a seal even if I over-filled the motor by a small (very small) amount. My only thought is that there is a vent tube somewhere that I can't locate. Anyone have any thoughts? Right now I'm getting about a 4" diameter puddle on the garage floor if the car sits overnight. I also can't tell of the car leaks from gravity or from oil pressure.
