Hey guys,

Ive just read that the w202 has an electronic speedo. So this perplexes me more so.

My speedo will often sit at 0km and upon moving it will stay there. After driving at 50km for 15 or so seconds, it will bounce straight up to 50

Sure.
Your needle is sticking to the little post at " 0 ". ;)

Interesting post.

But im skeptical because my tech and speedo both stopped working the other night at the same time. Tapping the instrument cluster on the top fixed the problem, but when driving they both droped back to zero - perhaps a loose connection. The fuel and temp guages were fine at the time.

Where do the speedo and tach signals come from?

ON USA cars the speedo signal comes from the ABS traction system!

OF course the tach signal comes from the fuel system computer.
