Hello Everyone...
I guess I'm just posting this message to tell everyone how kick-a$$ my new H&R springs are. I just finished putting them on my 92 400E. First of all, installation was a breeze taking only a little over an hour and a half for all 4. (I have a shop and did the work myself.) The rears took less than 10 minutes a side. The fronts were a little more complicated, but all I did was drop the 2 lower control arm bolts, and pivoted the control arm down with a transmission stand. Voila, that was it. Anyway, I left the stock spring pads on, they look pretty thin anyway. I think the car is about 2in. lower, and it looks killer! Actually the rear wheels sit inside the fender well! Right now, I have stock wheels. I hit about 110mph on the beltway on the way home and came across some pretty big dips, and nothing rubbed. Also I want to comment on the steering response of the car now. It's a difference between night and day! I really feel like I'm in a corvette or something. OK...so if you have any doubts about H&R...don't worry. So far it's the best money i've put into the car. Wheels are next month, then I'll post some pics! later everyone......pb |
peter can you e-mail me a list of instructions on what you did for the front and rear. :) I'd like to know more about it. I've been sent some instructions, but as always I love the knowledge.
Plus I just got new springs, and want to install them/get them installed... Alon |
Peter,
Did you have to make any alignment changes? Good luck, |
ok guys...
Ashman...do the springs yourself, i've heard shops charging 300.OO plus for that. Save it for the Euro's you've been trying to get forever. hehehe Let me get a free minute around here and I'll post a thread explaining how I did it. Larry...I'm doing the alignment right now. Camber, caster, and tow have changed since I took the lower control arm bolts out. These bolts are offset and they adjust camber and caster. Last night I didn't get a chance to align the car, so I'm doing it myself right now. Peter |
Pbalias,
What are the H&R spring numbers for front and rear?? I found a set of new H&R springs for a W124 touring last saturday lying around in a pile of recently bought Belgium MB-dealer-clean-up-parts and want to install them on my 1993 300CE conv. I know the front springs are the same, but think the rear ones will be a bit stiffer... I have no experience with H&R what so ever, but hope they will provide a nice handling... greetingz, |
