How do you switch outside thermometer reading from C* to F*?

This Mercedes is new to me and I am still trying to figure out all of the controls. Unfortunately, I did not get an owners manual with this car, but its fun trying to guess what some of these odd buttons are. :D

Anyway, the outside thermometer reading is in celcius and I want to change it to fahrenheit. Is there anyway to change it? I remember someone before asking about this, but I did a search and could not come up with anything. BTW- it is a 85' 380SE.

Thanks!

You need to change the whole LCD unit over to a F one, there is no switch or anything to chage from C to F.

Cheers

Drats! :sad3:

Don't guess I will be doing that. I guess I will have to learn the celcius reading vs. fahrenheit. I know that 0*C is = to 32* F.

Why did they do this reading on the USA models? USA has always used fahrenheit as the standard for temperature reading, as far as I know. What year did they change it? When I test drove a 90' 300SEL last month, it had the fahrenheit reading.

Thanks for the fast reply.

Keep working on it - it's not possible a U.S. car is centigrade only.

All pre-1986 W126 came only with a Celcius outside temperature LCD. The LCDitself cannot be "switched" to display Fahrenheit - you'll need to replace it with one from a 1986-on car - all those were in Fahrenheit.

Don't know why yours came in with a C output, I guess some did.

On a W126 the only way to change it is to change the LCD unit.

Do a search on 'outside temp sensor' there are a number of responses pertaining to the W126 (you will have to search through them) you will see this has been discussed before.

Just print this out and tape it on your dash !!

19=66, 20=68, 21=70, 22=71.5
