'99 C230K - Console Trim Removal ?

1999 C230K (202.024) - Can one of you experts please explain the procedure for removing the decorative trim panel piece that surrounds the radio, tempmatic unit, etc.? I need to access the blower switch for repair (fluctuating blower speeds). It looks like the upper vent unit needs to come out to release the trim piece. How? I removed the 2 lower underneath screws but those only released the ashtray unit. I'm careful not to pry for fear of chipping or cracking the plastic trim. Perhaps the picture will better detail my predicament. Your help is greatly appreciated.

It will be held in with screws, so don't pry it.

You'll probably have to pull the radio out with the removal keys, as I'm willing to bet there are more screws under it. Did you remove the storage tray? Might be some hiding under there as well.

I haven't removed that trim piece as my own HVAC controls and radio come out with keys from the front, but there must be a way, so keep hunting for screws.

you do have to remove the radio then there are four screws (top and bottom at the radio apertures) that get pulled then the panel snaps out and flips up.

warning when I removed mine I removed my center console and I have the haynes manual which made thing easy.

you can also do a search at www.club202.com someone may have posted pictures there
