99 e320 - Plug Wire Pulling Tool

I am about to do a spark plug change on my 99 e320 and have been reading about the trouble with getting the plug wires off. I found this tool using a google search.

Anyone ever used it or know anything about he company Samstag Sales?

Or am I just as well off with a 17mm open end?

Thanks,

Rondo

Plug Wire Pulling.

That is the same wrench that I use at the shop.
Remove the coil first, then pry the plug wire off bracing against the valve cover. Works every time. ( Please do at your own risk, no responsibility assumed.)

99 e320 - Plug Wire Pulling Tool

Well to save myself some trouble, I guess I will buy it. The dealer wanted over $400 for the job so I am way ahead. I always use my DIY projects as an excuse to buy some more tools.

Thanks for the quick response.

We've got the tool here in Fastlane

Did you try looking right here in Fastlane?
Mercedes Special Tools
Look in the Ignition section of the catalog. The spark plug pliers are what you need. Call or email Phil to order.

Now I am confused. I looked at the fast lane tool and I am not sure you would have enough room to operate something like that is such tight quarters. Also, the M112 engine in not listed for the tool. In all honesty, the pry bar tool looks easier to use and from playing with the one of the plug wires with a 17 mm open end wrench, I could see how the pry tool should easily work.

Phil can get the Hazet tool, too. If you prefer that one just send him an email with a pic of the tool or a link to this thread.

That 17mm wrench is the correct tool for getting of spark plug wires on all
M112 and M113 engines. It gets behind the plug connector and presses it off
when you lever against valve cover. MB tool # 110 589 01 01 00.
Not too expensive, last one I bought was $40 ish.......

Have you tried Costco? The have a set of 8 (or so) pliers that includes the spark plug boot puller... for a lot less than I paid for my one puller 5 years ago from Sears.
