tried to take off water pump - 94 C280

Hey ya'll, I tried to take the water pump off of my car myself, but found I had no idea where to start and access sucked, is it easier to do from underneath or from the top...I haven't, due to weather, jacked the car up yet but I can, I have ramps I can put it on, if it is easier from the bottom...Any advise would be welcome and appreciated!...Thanx in advance!

I watched my mechanic change the water pump on my 94 C280 and he did it through the top. He removed the fan and drive belt, among other things. I remember he had a special tool he made himself for removing the fan. It was a long, thin piece of metal about 2 feet long with a socket attached to one end. Be very careful when removing the fan or else you'll damage the fins on your radiator.
