97 E320 - -Car driving like a truck
 

Basically, I've been having a lot of problems. Current problem...the car feels like I have 4 flat tires. Could this be shocks or suspension. I am not a mechanic and need help. also. does the air sensor and transmission body valve go hand in hand. i had to have replaced within 2 weeks of one other.

How about the tires? What condition are they in? Perhaps new tires are in order?

Also, can you provide more details. You say "drives like a truck". Do you mean that the steering is not precise? Did this happen suddenly, or did it come on slowly?

I have new tires. The change was sudden. I can feel every bump on the road. The ride is ruff. I am scared to drive the car. What are some of the signs of needing to fix the suspension/shocks on a 97' E320.

Do you anything about air sensor and transmission body valve. are they related?

Can you recommend a national car repair chain that can repair mercedes. In two months I have spent over $2500 on repairs from front brakes rotors, air sensor, and transmission body valve.

First, are the tires over-inflated? The sticker under the fuel door will tell you the corrrect pressure.

Then, has it gotten really cold? Cold weather can stiffen up the shocks, making the ride seem tighter. Water on/in the shocks can freeze, and make the ride quite stiff. Worn-out shocks usually make the ride seem more floaty and sloppy, not rougher.

No. The Mass Air Flow sensor and transmission valve body are unrelated.

In fact, Mercedes-Benz has a chain. They are called dealerships, and they are national... ;)

Perhaps last, perhaps first. Ensure that your front spring perches are good.

Not am not seeking a mercedes benz dealership. As much as I've paid on my car I SHOULD OWN THE DEALERSHIP...

THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLIES. THE TIRES ARE NEW. I NOTICED THAT MY FRAME IS ALMOST TOUCHING MY FRONT DRIVER TIRE. SO I GUESS IT IS THE SUSPENSION/SHOCKS, OR SOMETHING RELATED.

sometimes people know good shops if you supply your general area (city, state)

If your description "frame is almost touching the front tire" means the tire is close to the wheel well (the body), then either your new wheels/tires are too big, or you have a problem at the front suspension. Let's deal with the first option. What size wheels and tires are on your car?

I am guessing because I am not with the car. The size is 215 16 55 (I believe). I matched them with the ones that were previously on the car. They were purchased at Good Year. I am positive that the tires are the correct size.

The other issue. More likely to be front suspension = = I was driving the car and it felt like I had a flat tire. I pulled over and no flats. then I proceeded to drive and I could actually feel every bump on the road. I looked at the car this morning and the frame is lower (close to the tire on the drivers side) there is brown fluid leaking from underneath (to the left of the front drivers tire).

I apologize for my ignorance but I am a older female who knows nothing about cars. I am concerned because my car is serviced at the dealership and for the past two months its been towed there every other week costing me tons of money.

Have you looked at the front springs and perches yet? You can see the left side by turning the front wheels all the way to the left, and similarly for the right side. This needs to be eliminated as a possibility before you check anything else.

I will check. If the problem is the springs/perches could this have been the result of when I had my front brakes and rotors replaced? Could they have foreseen the problem?

Would you recommend having the car serviced at a Good Year,etc instead of a mercedes dealership?

OK, so the new tires are the same size as the previous. Since you don't have the necessary mechanical knowledge - please don't be offended - take the car back to Goodyear and describe the problem. They can determine if something is wrong with your front end. If you don't trust Goodyear for any reason, tell us where you live, city and state, and very likely someone can direct you to a reputable independent repair shop for diagnosis.

You probably have new adaptation values in the transmission. The 722.6 learns the way you drive and will "drive rough" when re-learning the adaptation values.

If the tech didn't go through each gear, the adaptation is off, and will take a few days to re-learn itself, since you replaced the valve body.

Was this done by the dealer? Did they also replace the transmission control module when they replaced the valve body?
