P/S Fluid
 
Hello I am planning on changing the power steering filter --fluid ---and
resvior gasket. What brand power steering do I use or does it make
any difference? the car is a 1987 MB 300SDL. Thanks John

Use MB fluid. It makes a difference.

I've used MB P/S fluid and ordinary auto parts off-the-shelf fluid and have seen no difference.

You didn't notice the difference in price? Ok, so that's not what you meant. I did get some MB PS fluid, simply because they had it. But boy are they proud of that stuff.

I used MB fluid an noticed it quited down my whinning PS pump a lot. Its much thinner then the Febi fluid I had in their.

Consider changing the return lines (low pressure) while it's empty. They tend to become overlooked with age... then crack thus leaking oil everywhere which will eventually kill the motor mount. Ask me how I know :D
