Wondering if anyone has dealt with this issue before. I have 2001 210 wagon. It has a creaking/rattling noise originating from somewhere in the back. It's temperature dependent - much more prominent when cold. During our hot Dallas summers it disappears completely, at least after a few minutes in the sunshine. During cooler winter days it doesn't completely go away, though I can mostly drown it out with NPR.
I think the noise originates from the carpeted trim panel covering the tailgate. I've messed around with it a bit. It's hung on the tailgate using four plastic hooks and a few plastic push rivets - much like the interior door panels. Has anyone had this issue? Anyone solved it? Any good strategies for tackling body noises?
As well, the 210 wagon seems noisier than the 124 wagon it replaced. It has some wind noise at highway speeds, especially in a cross wind. Never noticed that on the 124. And if I have a bicycle on the roof rack, it's very prominent on the 210. With the 124 wagon, I could just barely tell if there were bicycles up there in the wind stream.
