Leaking Gasket (above valve cover gasket) c280
I drive a 1998 c280 (m112),
This will be my first DIY job on this car (recent purchase). Theres a leaking gasket around some housing on top of the drivers side valve cover. The gasket goes around the oil filter cap and down the valve cover towards the rear of the car, but is much smaller than the valve cover gasket. Does anyone know what this part is called so I can purchase one? Is it included with the drivers side valve cover gasket? Thanks for the help.

Pull the cover off of the engine. Just pull straight up at each corner. (Make sure all the rubber goodies are in place when you replace it.) You'll see the oil filler cap attaches to a plastic filler neck. Very common for the filler neck to get leaky at the bottom where it seals to the valve cover. It is easily removed by turning, just like the filler cap, after releasing the small lock tab on the driver's side. Replace the gaskets for the cap and the neck. I think you can buy them from Fastlane.
Good Luck, Dan
