Help! Snaped Drivetrain Belt...

Hi, My drivetrain belt snapped off the freeeway, but i dontk now which one it is. Its a 83 300SD. and its on the bottom right of the motor. I continued to drive it for several days. I assume it might have been the A/C Belt. and that when i used my heater, i lost pressure for my brakes..

The Car does not turn off also, and there is no pessure with the brakes, i mean that the brakes do dont slow the car down... barely.

Thank you for you time

Danny

Stranded 300SD Owner.

Yea - I would not worry about it till about April. Do perform a good inspection on your oil cooler hoses.

Hey, Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I have some more news... Its at the mechanics right now and what should i tell them to fix? They are saying that its a water pump, and thats about $700

What do you think about turning on the car and runnin the ac for a while. would that somehow fix the problem with the brakes?

G3000-32486 Water Pump Laso IN STOCK $80.42

Wow they are really ripping you a new one! Find a new mechanic, or re neg the price big time.

Change all the drive belts and inspect the oil cooler lines.

Unlikely, to say the least. The brake problem is related to your engine not stopping with the key. The only relation to the air conditioner is that the belt may have damaged a vacuum line on its way out.

You've got a handful of problems now. The broken belt, what caused the broken belt (sounds like your mechanic thinks the water pump seized), and whatever vacuum lines the broken belt broke as it whipped around under the hood. All should be fairly easy to see and repair for an relatively new DIYer, providing it isn't a seized AC compressor.
