96 E320 visor garage opener

Can anyone tell me how to have the integral driver sun visor garage door opener on my 96 E320 'learn' the code fo my new garage door opener (and then which of the three buttons to push to operate it)? I haven't found any instructions in the owner's manual.
Thanks for any hints/help.
Ron

This is for the visor mounted GDO:
press one of the buttons on the visor untill the light starts to flash. This may take up to 20 seconds.
Keep button on visor depressed and point handheld GDO at visor mounted GDO. The light on the visor will start flashing more rapidly to indicate that it has received the signal.
That's all

If your door operator is ten years old, it will work. If you just got a new one, it probably will not work. The operator remotes have changed yet again, and it's pretty much impossible to make a remote work for unknown future versions.

Note that after following the instructions below, you still have to program your operator to respond to the remote in the car. If your operator is not compatible, the remote in the car will appear to be programmed, but the operator will refuse to notice when you attempt to program it to respond to the remote in the car.

This is my situation. I have a remote clipped to my visor.

Thanks to both for your replies. I've tried once, now, without success. I'll now try to see if the GDO owner's manual sheds any additonal light.
Thank you again.

It is a bit tricky to program/syncronize the remote to a " rolling code " opener, but it can be done.

I don't think the 1996MY MB-visor units can operate the rolling-code operators.
