'91 300SE off idle hesitation
Been having major hesitation right off idle to about 1700 rpm. Not so bad when dead cold, but bad when warm. 140K miles. New injectors, plugs, plug wires, cap & rotor, fuel& air filters. Ran several can of injector cleaner and combustion chamber cleaner. Very little improvement. The car idles fine and runs perfectly above 2000rpm. Great mileage and no smell of fuel. Could this be the dreaded (expensive) fuel distributor??

I have no experience with fuel distrubutor failure but another item that IMO could lead to similar symptoms is the air flow sensor potentiometer. This is a 45$ part (not sold by the dealership but available from Bosch) that tells the main computer the amount of air entering the engine. It typically wears first at low RPM because that is the range the engine operates most of the time. A worn potentiometer will misinform the main computer. Good luck, Bruno |
