cooling system refill M117
How do I refill and bleed the system ? Can I mix MB antifreeze with other brands ?
Thanks, John |
nooooo, dont' mix. just use one bottle of the MB antifreez with only distilled water.

How do you tell if the antifreese is MB or just over the counter? Is it a different color. Thanks

I knew because it's all I have ever used. It is light green.
Talked to Tech at the dealer and this is how you refill. Fill the over flow tank start the car anlet it run with the heater on. Keep filling until it stabilises. When the it gets to normal temp Rev engine to 3,000 rpms and back to idle three times, this gets the air out. Put the cap on and let it run and check the level. Your done. John |
The color of the original MB antifreez is blue.

I have MB dealer antifreeze that is light amber in color. You can't judge the suitability or compatability of antifreeze by its color anymore.

I wish that burping was always that simple! Sometimes M117's 'burp' quite easily, othertimes..not so much. I like to fill the cars on a bit of an up hill..I will also pull the upper hose off the rad and fill through the hose until it won't accept any more. Keep the HVAC on defrost the whole time..the aux H2O pump will help you out.
