Just for the record, I did a search on this, but couldn't come up with anything because it kept bring up INSTALL, and was way too broad.
On to my question... Stopped at a stop light, I felt the car rumble, and it rolled back (I pushed brake then), and the car had stalled. I couldn't figure it out? Then of course, the 1 out of 10 times that I try to start my car when warm, it wouldn't start (still need a new Overvolt Relay). So I was stuck at a stop light with my friend for a number of minutes while attempting to start the car. I really hope I didn't give MB a bad name by seeing one broken down at a stop light!! Anyway, I had a rough idle awhile back, but got a new fuel filter and new spark plugs and the problem was cured. Right before the engine died, it stumbled like it did with the rough idle (always feels like a car has been nudged me from behind). Anyone have any idea what this could be? |
If you still have the original OVPRelay # 000-540-52-45 then start there. The fuel pump of relay can also cause this type of failure, many times the fuel gauge can give you bad info also. Have had at least 5 C-class cars towed in due to NO FUEL in tank!

Thanks MBDoc. But I didn't know that the Overvolt relay could make the car stall? I thought it only made it not start? What exactly is the Overvolt Relay anyway?
Yeah, I was reading the post on 300E PECULIAR STALLING and heard that the Overvolt relay and Fuel Relay were the most common problems. Thanks again. BTW... I just checked and I do still have old OV relay, I thought I did anyway. I am sorry, one more thing. Also, could the new OV Relay solve my car's intermittent hesitation when I accelerate from a stop (It seems like there is NO gas going to the engine when this happens, only for a breif second though, and only happened about 6 times in 4 months)? The relay will get hot and cause a vareity of problems. One of them is stalling. The other relay that can cause this is the fuel pump relay located in with the spare tire. (Green with fuse in the top)
