Does anyone know where I can buy an aluminum center housing for my climate control servo on a 1979 300SD ? Also looking for the Mercedes plastic center section repair kit part number 000 830 01 98 ?

No, but...

Hi there,
I don't know where you can get the aluminum housing, but I just installed an Unwired Tools digital servo upgrade kit in my '79 450SL, and it works fine. I did call them to ask a question, and they said they have a new upgraded kit that puts all the parts - the control unit and the vacuum solenoids - in a metal box, which should make the underhood appearance a little cleaner than mine is. They said they will upgrade mine free if I choose to do so.
The digital upgrade eliminates that black control unit that has all the vacuum hoses, wires, and heater hoses attached to it. It replaces it with a small digital control unit that operates a simple heater valve in pulse width mode, similar to what the newer climate control units do with the monovalve.
Regards, RGW

Unwired tools digital servo upgrade info...

Hi there,
You can download the install manual, etc at: http://www.unwiredtools.com . They also have a forum for their products. There is a link on the forum to an install someone did on a 116 that is interesting to see as it shows some pictures of the install.
I purchased the kit at Performance Products. They have a website, http://www.performanceproducts4benz.com, which shows a few parts, but they also have a Mercedes catalog that has a great deal of parts and accessories available. The cost of the upgrade was $699, not cheap, but I felt it was worth it to have the improved performance. The upgraded kit performs all the functions of the original unit, ie 4 fan speeds in heating, 5 in cooling, precise control of the temperature - on the latest revision they replace the Mercedes temperature sensors with their own which are better placed and more sensitive, according to them. At any rate, it works well.

They have a BIG BANNER AD at the top of the SL Forum. Click the ad for more info.
Phil sells the kits in Fastlane.

Fastlane...

Hi there,
If Phil has the digital servo kit, it is well hidden - I just spent 15 minutes trying to find it in his online catalog, and it isn't there, at least for my '79!
I would think you should see it by viewing the items listed for "climate control".
At least that's where I found it in the performance parts catalog...

Phil has LOTS of suppliers!!!

If you want the BEST PRICE from Fastlane then CALL or EMAIL Phil. He's very easy to deal with and is in this for the long haul...not the fast buck.
The online catalog is quick and easy but not always the best deal.
I second this fact.
Phil is honest, if he can match the price, he will.
If the part is so odd that he does not carry it, he may know where to send you.
THIS is why I keep suggesting people call him when they have any legitimate parts question.

Unfortunately, the online catalog has about 40% of the Parts Phil sells. The online catalog represents only one of the suppliers that Phil sources from.

Plug this part# ACC2G04 into the "Special Order Parts" field in Fastlane and click search. Without contacting Phil you would never know this was there.
